Orthodontic treatment, including traditional braces and clear aligner therapy (Invisalign), corrects mal-aligned teeth by exerting gentle pressure over time to straighten teeth and create a beautiful smile. Advances in technology and modern braces are less noticeable, and some patients can even be treated with practically invisible braces called Invisalign®.
Orthodontics is the dental sub-specialty for treating mal-aligned teeth, jaw bone development problems, and numerous bite problems. Orthodontic treatment works by using traditional metal braces, modern clear or ‘tooth coloured’ braces, clear aligner (trays) therapy like Invisalign, or a combination of different appliances. The idea is to exert gentle pressure over time to straighten teeth.

We will discuss your payment plan options with you after treatment time has been estimated and treatment options have been presented. There are many reasons why people need orthodontic treatment. Most malocclusions or “bad bites” are hereditary. These inherited problems include too much space between teeth, missing teeth, extra teeth, crowded teeth, and various jaw issues. Some malocclusions are acquired through prolonged thumb-sucking habits, tongue-thrusting habits, mouth-breathing due to airway impingement, early or late loss of baby teeth, or accidents. Whatever the reason is, your Pingree Grove dentist can recommend the appropriate course of action to evaluate and treat in a timely manner.
At Pingree Smile Center, we know that braces are a very reliable way to improve the appearance of your smile. This improvement may affect more than just your appearance, as it can make you feel more attractive and more confident. Improper alignment of teeth can affect a person’s self-esteem, development of the face, speech, and sometimes even TMJ (jaw joint) problems. We can offer treatment options that fit your needs and desires. Call today for a consultation.
Teeth can be moved by orthodontic treatment at any age, but some treatments are more effective when treatment is started at an early age. Jaw development problems are best treated when caught early as they can prevent the possible need to remove permanent teeth to create adequate space for proper alignment when a patient gets older. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an evaluation for children age seven to evaluate for signs of jaw development problems. Adult patients can very often get the same results as child patients, but in some instances, the treatment will take longer. Don’t let age stop you from getting the smile you want. Call your Pingree Grove dentist today for a consultation.
Invisalign® is the brand name for a new kind of braces that are removable and practically invisible in the form of clear trays. It is actually a series of clear plastic trays that you wear like a mouthguard. As the treatment progresses, your teeth gradually move to fit the aligner, and then you start wearing the next aligner. Your dentist will design the aligner trays to suit your treatment needs so that by the time you are finished wearing the last aligner in the series, your teeth will have adjusted to the proper position. Invisalign is a great treatment option for adult patients concerned about getting traditional metal braces for aesthetic reasons.
There are many things to consider when evaluating proper treatment options. Once a full evaluation is completed, our dentists will discuss treatment benefits and alternative treatment options with you. If you are not a good candidate for Invisalign, you will be guided to the next best option.
